CAPA has decertified 42 parts so far this year with 19 of those parts manufactured by Tong Yang, according to data provided on CAPA’s monthly decertification lists.

Tong Yang continues to lead as the manufacturer with the most parts decertified by CAPA, with five parts added to the list in July.

Y.C.C. follows with six parts decertified this year and no new parts added to the list in July. Pro Fortune and TYC Brother tie for the manufacturers with the third most decertifications, with both companies having four decertifications this year. Pro Fortune had one part added in July and TYC had two parts added.

All of Tong Yang’s parts decertified in July were bumper covers, as were all of its parts decertified in June.

Pro Fortune also had a bumper cover decertified in July.

CHL had one part decertified in July for its second part decertified so far this year. It also was a bumper cover.

TYC Brother had two parts added to the list in July. These included a fog lamp and a headlamp.

July tied January as the month with the most number of decertifications. May saw the second most with eight and June the third most with seven.

RDN previously asked CAPA how many times a manufacturer can have a part decertified before they can no longer apply for certifications. CAPA didn’t answer the question directly.

“As the industry understands, no manufacturing process is flawless — even OEMs face challenges, as evidenced by weekly recall lists,” CAPA said in an email.” CAPA thoroughly investigates reported issues, addressing necessary corrections on a case-by-case basis.”

When previously asked how the industry should use the part reports, if information providers receive the list and, in return, update their inventory and database, CAPA responded that it does not have insight into how recipients use the reports.

Information providers CCC and Mitchell have previously told RDN that it is up to the parts supplier to update their systems.
