Tong Yang leads CAPA decertified parts for first half of the year

During the first half of this year, CAPA has decertified 36 parts, with 14 of those parts manufactured by Tong Yang.

Tong Yang had five parts decertified in June, according to CAPA’s decertified list released last week. All of the parts were plastic bumper covers. The bumper covers were for Acura, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, and Toyota models.

The manufacturer has seen the most decertifications by CAPA this year. Y.C.C. follows with six decertifications and Pro Fortune with three. Da Juane, AP, and DEPO each have two decertifications.

Y.C.C.’s sixth decertification happened in June with a plastic bumper cover for a Honda Odyssey. CHL had its first decertification of the year with a Mazda CX-9 bumper cover.

January saw the most number of decertifications, with nine. May followed with eight, and June saw the third most with seven.

RDN previously asked CAPA how many times a manufacturer can have a part decertified before they can no longer apply for certifications. CAPA didn’t answer the question directly.

“As the industry understands, no manufacturing process is flawless — even OEMs face challenges, as evidenced by weekly recall lists,” CAPA said in an email.” CAPA thoroughly investigates reported issues, addressing necessary corrections on a case-by-case basis.”

When previously asked how the industry should use the part reports, if information providers receive the list and, in return, update their inventory and database, CAPA responded that it does not have insight into how recipients use the reports.

Information providers CCC and Mitchell have previously told RDN that it is up to the parts supplier to update their systems.
