BAR proposes changes to mobile and referral automotive repair dealer regulations

The California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) is proposing multiple changes to regulations on mobile and referral automotive repair dealers.
One change would require mobile businesses to register a physical address where records are maintained and available for inspection and reproduction. The new language says P.O. boxes, business mailbox services, and virtual mailbox addresses may not be used for this purpose.
The changes will apply to any automotive repair dealer that engages in the business of mobile automotive repair and does not operate a currently registered place of business within a geographical radius of 50 miles from where the diagnosis or repair of motor vehicles is performed.
The businesses would be required to include a complete address of where the repairs were performed on final invoices or a description of the location if not completed at a physical address.
All of the amended changes would be made to article 6.1 of chapter 1 of Division 33 of Title 16 of the California Code of Regulations.
The changes have went through a public comment process and are expected to be submitted to the Office of Administrative Law soon.
