Roof rail refinish option added to CCC

Published on April 10, 2026

According to a new Estimating Tip from the Data Enhancement Gateway (DEG), CCC has introduced a specific selection for refinishing roof rails to cover repairs in which a roof rail section or refinish labor isn’t traditionally listed in the Headnotes (H-Notes).

Pointing to MOTOR feedback in DEG Inquiry 40811, the tip states that in some instances, MOTOR is providing roof rails with only refinish time for refinishing purposes.

Quoting MOTOR feedback, the tip states, “‘The part is not serviced, but refinishing is available. This update allows users to capture that labor accurately without needing a manual entry.'”

To add to an estimate, DEG says to navigate to “Group: Pillars, Rockers & Floor,” then “Sub-sections: ‘Hinge Pillar’ or ‘Aperture Panel.'”

The inquiry MOTOR responded to, from March, sought guidance on what the roof rail should have for clear wrap on a 2017 Subaru Legacy Premium, which the inquirer said the H-Notes didn’t indicate.

In response, MOTOR updated the database to show clear coat labor when selecting the roof rail in the estimate.

On April 29, Danny Gredinberg, DEG administrator and Collision Advice training facilitator, will present during a TechTalk360 webinar titled “Document Every Diagnostic Step Correctly.”

Gredinberg will focus on the critical intersection of collision repair operations and estimating system accuracy, moving beyond the basic pre-and post-scan line items to explore how to capture the full story of ADAS calibrations and electronic resets in estimates.
